“Encounter of a New Kind”

If I were one of the few chosen to go to this new planet to start a new community, at the first meeting I think we should discuss government, education, and law.

Government is a good topic in my opinion because we would live terribly if we lived as the colonists before the Constitution was written. We need some form of leadership to take care of the whole community as one. If us humans totally disagree with dictatorship, I think they should know about it right away.

Education is very important. That is what makes Japan a leading country, as well as the United States. We need education to help invent things, discover things and to balance our community’s budget. To figure out taxes (if any) and just to do ordinary everyday things that people 100 years ago couldn’t do.

Last of all, law is another very important issue to be discussed because it would be very awkward for us if the Novans were allowed to do things like kill if they were insulted and vice-versa. If they weren’t allowed to speak to each other in public without some form of communication besides the voice, they might start a riot about it and demand to leave.

This experimental community shall strive to be a people who will start out right, learning from the mistakes of our forefathers and will not make the mistake of building bombs to kill each other in times of disagreement.
